Shōgun wint overdonderend

Zondag werden in Los Angeles voor de 76ste keer de Emmy’s uitgereikt, meer bepaald de belangrijkste en meest populaire Emmy’s. Vorige week werden immers de Creative Arts Emmy Awards reeds uitgereikt.

Shōgun voerde de lijst van nominaties dit jaar aan met 25 stuks; Daarvan wisten ze er 18 te verzilveren, een absoluut record. Zondagavond kregen ondermeer Anna Sawai en Hiroyuki Sanada de prijzen voor ‘beste vertolking’. Na Shōgun volgden The Bear met 11, Baby Reindeer en Saturday Night Live met elk zes en de documentaire Jim Henson Idea Man rondde de top-5 af met vijf stuks. Hoewel The Bear de Emmy voor ‘beste komedie’ moest afstaan aan Hacks, verbeterde de serie zijn eigen record (10 stuks) dat gevestigd werd in 2023.

Dat Shōgun de grote winnaar van de avond zou worden was te verwachten, maar wat minder voorspelbaar was, waren de overwinningen van Liza Colón-Zayas, Billy Crudup en Lamorne Morris net als die in de categorie ‘beste scenario’ waar Hacks won van The Bear en Slow Horses van Shōgun. Persoonlijk waren wij erg tevreden met de awards die Baby Reindeer won: ‘beste acteur’ en ‘beste actrice in een bijrol’ in een miniserie, ‘beste scenario’ in een miniserie en ‘beste miniserie’.
