CCAwards volgen de Golden Globes

Gisteren werden in Amerika de Critic’s Choice Awards uitgereikt. De prijsuitreiking xzsee, kopij van de Golden Globes. In acht categorieën wonnen dezelfde namen of programma’s. Met andere woorden ook hier was The Crown de grote triomfator met vier prijzen: ‘beste serie’ en drie prijzen in de acteercategorieën.

Netflix wist van zijn 26 nominaties er 14 te verzilveren. HBO deed het heel wat minder goed: zij haalden slechts twee prijzen binnen op 22 nominaties. Dé verrassing van de avond was de award voor John Boyega die het haalde van Mark Ruffalo in de categorie ‘best actor in a limited series’. Bij de Golden Globes won Boyega ook de Golden Globe, maar dan in de categorie ‘best actor in a limited series in a supporting role’. Door die switch lag de weg open voor Donald Sutherland die met de eer ging lopen in voornoemde categorie. Een andere verrassing waren de vier awards voor Ted Lasso, onmiskenbaar de beste comedy van het afgelopen jaar.

Tot slot was er ook nog een onverwachte prijs voor Michael K. Williams voor zijn rol in Lovecraft Country. En hoewel de Critic’s Choice Awards de nominatie van I May Destroy You niet over het hoofd gezien hadden, ging de prijs voor ‘best limited series’ naar The Queen’s Gambit.
